Erik ten Hag, according to Donny van de Beek, possesses a unique set of qualities that will enable him flourish at Manchester United.

Ten Hag has demonstrated his tactical versatility in recent weeks, inspiring United to victories over Liverpool, Southampton, and Leicester in the Premier League by a single goal in each of those games.

United defeated Arsenal 3-1 over the weekend, and Ten Hag’s team prospered once again on the counter-attack.

In that encounter, Antony opened the scoring, then Marcus Rashford, who is enjoying his football under Ten Hag, scored a well-taken brace at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag’s style is winning football matches and Van de Beek believes his old Ajax boss has what it takes to bring success back to the club. In an interview on Thursday, Van de Beek praised Ten Hag and looked ahead to the Reds’ clash against Real Sociedad.

“I think he can be really good for the club,” Van de Beek told United’s in-house media. “I think with where the club is, everything, how they want to play, he is a good mix with what they want as a manager, so I’m really looking forward to it.

“There are really good teams in La Liga. I saw Real Sociedad play a few times and they are technical and really good. They are all technically very good, like all Spanish teams. It’s a tough opponent, and we have to play good to get the result.

“But we need to focus on ourselves to be in top shape and to be in good form. I saw their game against Barcelona recently – at the end they conceded a few goals – but, before that, they played good football.

“It will be a tough game and we have to give everything. David Silva, for example, is a really good player. They lost [Alexander] Isak, who was a good striker. I played against him in the Netherlands before, when he played there [for Willem II]. But they have a few more other good players.”
