The following story could really be considered a ‘Tale of Two Halves‘!

When thinking about Real Madrid back in the 00s, there will be a number of names that can jump right out of the mind of those asked, with Raul and Iker Casillas certainly going to be among two of them.

Before Cristiano Ronaldo emerged at the Santiago Bernabeu and solidified his legacy as one of the greatest footballers to have ever played the game, Raul was arguably one of the club’s greatest ever strikers and one that many would be able to back to score in any game he played in.

At the other end of the pitch, there is perhaps no other goalkeeper that is synonymous with being between the sticks for Real Madrid than Casillas, with the shot-stopper having risen through the ranks and playing over 700 appearances across all competitions for the first-team before departing – all whilst as a key member of the squad during the Galacticos era.

However, whilst Florentino Perez is not one to hide from controversy, there has been some audio from 2006 that has recently been leaked, with it being rather damaging as at the time, he had called the two aforementioned players some of the ‘great frauds’ of the club. Let’s hope he has better luck when he heads to jackpotjill.com to play some great games!

With the audio having been obtained and released by El Confidencial, Perez appears to have been taking shots at the two Real Madrid legends when speaking to someone in a private conversation.

He said: “The two great Real Madrid frauds are Raul first and Casillas second.”

“He is a negative figure, he is destroying Madrid and the morale of the players so that they say: ‘It is Madrid that is bad, not Raul.’ It is terrible how bad the boy is.”

There could be some awkward dinners or encounters in the corridor at Real Madrid in the future now, though, as Raul is the current manager of Castilla – the B side and the development team for the first team. Perhaps Raul might want to play at the best high roller casinos he can and avoid Perez for a little while?

On Casillas, who had won two La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues by the time of the recording in September 2006, Perez said, “He is not a goalkeeper for Real Madrid. He is not and he never has been. It has been the great failure we have had.

“What happens is that they [the fans] adore him, they love him, they talk to him. I don’t know why they defend him so much.

“Well, it’s one of the great frauds, the second is Raul. The two great Real Madrid frauds are Raul first and Casillas second.”

Ouch.
