FC Bayern Munich are always considered one of the strongest contenders to win the UEFA Champions League each and every season given their history in the competition and their stature in the game.
Indeed, there will be many in Germany that will have been left feeling a little disappointed with the Bundesliga giant’s performances in certain editions of the tournament, however they will be looking to make the most of this year’s campaign.
They will, though, need to get past Red Bull Salzburg in the Round of 16 stage if they are to progress further in this year’s competition, although it does not appear that there are many that are too concerned about that not happening.
Betway Sportsbook have priced the German Bundesliga outfit as heavy favourites to win the first leg encounter that will be played in Austria by giving them odds of 30/100. Naturally, these odds could be considered rather attractive when you consider the great bonus offers and promotional boosts that are on offer from the sportsbook operator, too!
Naturally, it does not come as a surprise to see that FC Bayern Munich are considered strong favourites given the strength of their squad and the calibre of players that Julian Nagelsmann has available at his disposal.
Their form in the Group Stage of the tournament was on par with what would have been expected as they had managed to win all six games that they played. They defeated Benfica, FC Barcelona and Dynamo Kyiv to secure their place in the first knockout stage of this competition.
Additionally, they were on fire throughout the phase as they managed to net a total of 22 goals and concede just three in the process.
Salzburg, though, in their own right deserve to be in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 stage, though, as they were able to qualify from a group that contained LOSC Lille, Sevilla and Wolfsburg.
The Austrian outfit managed to secure themselves three wins and a draw (as well as recording two defeats) to secure passage to this stage of the competition as runners-up, although there is no denying that this is going to be the biggest test that the Austrian Bundesliga side are to face so far.
Indeed, not many will be full of belief that Red Bull Salzburg will be able to get past FC Bayern Munich at this stage of the competition, and it is extremely unsurprising to see the German outfit be provided with a small price to win on Wednesday 16 February.
