We all know how financially desperate FC Barcelona might be at the moment, however there are new reports that suggest the La Liga – and world – powerhouses are in truly dire straits at the moment.
Indeed, much of the financial situation has been beyond their control, however there have been calls suggesting that the Catalans should have been able to do a lot more than they have to try and avoid the situation that they are in. Some would argue that they need to start playing real money online pokies in order to try and obtain some cash.
The club are keen to reduce the wage bill that they currently have at the Camp Nou, but it could also come at a significant cost.
One of the main reasons that they need to trim that wage bill is to be able to bring Lionel Messi back to the club and sign him to a new deal after his previous one expired at the end of the month, whilst they will also want to be in a position where they are able to register summer arrivals such as Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay.
Indeed, according to one report that has been thrown out by British media, the club could look to try and loan Antoine Griezmann to a Premier League club to try and get his wages of the books temporarily.
According to the Daily Express, Chelsea are one side that is thought to be on alert, with Thomas Tuchel’s side already looking to make plans to bring the FIFA World Cup winner to Stamford Bridge on a temporary deal.
Naturally, there are only going to be a handful of clubs that will be able to afford to take Griezmann considering his huge wages, but whether the 30-year-old would be interested in leaving on a short-term deal remains to be seen. Perhaps he can pick up playing real money casino games as a hobby whilst experiencing something new if he were to take a loan deal?
It has been claimed that the Blues may look to trim deadwood from the squad first, though, whilst they could also look to turn to Kurt Zouma to try and convince the attacker to join them at SW6.
However, considering Zouma’s future at the Bridge looks over following Tuchel’s arrival and the limited opportunities he has had since the German took charge, whether he will be able to provide a glowing review could be questionable.
There is no doubt that Griezmann has had plenty of expectations on his shoulders at FC Barcelona, but he did manage to score 20 goals across all competitions last season – which is something Chelsea could benefit from.
